Graduate project is coming to an end soon and I'm in dire need of finding a coherent 'language' for the project. Currently I've been looking a lot at industrial forms; oil rigs, water towers, pylons, warehouses etc. Structures which rely heavily on a truss. This is deadly boring and I feel myself fall into a lull every time I look at my work which is also starting to resemble the colour scheme and layout of a bathroom catalogue. However I also keep coming back to vernacular structures which build up from stilts and timber. These are far more exciting and I enjoy the layers of lightly touching elements. This I think is what my project needs.

So I've started looking at more Smout Allen and UK student projects, Lebbeus Woods etc. All very predictable which is why I also need to look at more artists and possibly film to get it exactly right for me and not just a disingenuous conceptual student project which is exactly what it feels like at the moment. eep.
